Signature Spider (Yellow Banded)

I’m having the hardest time specifically identifying this spider photographed in Sri Lanka. It’s one of those signature spiders; this one as you can see has mastered the zig zag signature pattern perfectly (the cross on the web, made for stability). Their web is made perfectly vertical and the spiders wait upside down for the prey to land. IMG_6978.jpg

Giant Golden Orb Weaver

Giant Golden Orb Weaver (Nephila Pilipes) is one of the largest spiders in the world. The photo here is of a female which grows up to 50mm in size while the male remains about 5 times smaller.

I also made a video:

Made a lot of effort to get the angle on the second photo. Totally worth it! This little one excited me so much with it’s unique shape and the red ‘lights’ on either side.
