Lakeside Blues and Pinks

IMG_20170422_213427_418

Pink blotched clear blue lake,

now turning a deep green,

Two mosquitoes circling each other

rise in the air

A creature jumps in

leaving ripples dancing

growing outward

to nothingness

Mink, muskrat or otter

does it matter?

Moments pass by

the geese are still making their calls

Ripples form again

as the breeze sweeps in

Bare trees still shaking off winter

double themselves on water

a deeper reflection

their skeletons the blackest of blacks

No pinks no blues no more;

hints of orange fade

between real and shadow.

Countryside of Staffordshire

I clicked this photo because I was impressed by the light rays breaking in through the clouds (a wonderful phenomenon). So far, I’ve mostly failed at capturing details of light.

Today I felt hopeful with my photography and watched a few videos on how to improve things. The photo is quite enhanced through lightroom and I feel the sky is overdone. I don’t believe in unrealistic photo editing for myself, but I also appreciate post-processing for the artistic expression it allows. I feel divided.

Sky Worship

At university I met someone who said that she feels like the trees are reaching up to the heavens in praise of God. I would have been happy to talk about how the trees love God, but she wanted me to be a part of their cult. So, I had to walk away. img_5432

“There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!” Percy Bysshe Shelley

Today it’s a year since my official graduation. I avoided the whole graduation ritual last year so I collected the diploma the day before yesterday. I don’t understand why people think the ceremony is the most important thing. How about the classes, the assignments, and strange people you meet? It’s been a great year off formal education. Lots of love, photos and a different kind of learning.
